Something for Mom

A first-year college student came in between classes with a short list and a smaller budget. Nothing fancy — just something that would make her mom smile when the package arrived. She turned a little keychain over in her hand like she was checking it for the right kind of soft. On the way out she texted, “Sending you something. Don’t open it yet.”
